Duplexes have been a much-loved housing option for investors and homeowners for decades. Unlike a free-standing home there are a number of additional considerations when creating a multi-residential / duplex concept for a family or as an investment option.
Some multi-res designs look from the outside as if two homes have just been “dropped and nailed” together with no consideration for how the design will look from the road and with little consideration for street appeal.
However, a clever multi-res can make it appear that unit one and unit two of a duplex could actually be appear to be separate houses with no common wall – this effect can be accentuated with good landscaping.
The illusion that a multi-res is two separate dwellings can also assist with resale. Bluewater Builders prefer to offer multi-res concepts on street corners which allows greater opportunities for the homeowners and the investment property tenant or owner to create individual free-standing homes.
